You’d be surprised. We suggest you hold on to it dearly and don’t drop it when you find out...

Everything is moving from desktop to mobile and with such, our daily use. Did you ever find yourself in a situation where you did not put your phone away while eating or taking it with you while using the toilet? And have you ever thought about all the things you touch in a day, like doorhandles, and money?

So, having that in mind, how dirty do you think your phone is? Well specialists in microbiology were wondering the same as you. The result:

Each inch of your phone contains roughly 25,000 germs, making it one of the filthiest object you get in contact daily.  That is something you can think of the next time you press your phone on your face.

Are you ready to hear the craziest part, though? There is a list of things you might consider disgusting and are still cleaner than your phone, including A TOILET SEAT.

Yes, a toilet seat! It has been proven that a toilet seat makes the list because compared to your phone, it is sanitized more often. And if you think about it you will agree. When was the last time you cleaned your phone? Or better, have you ever cleaned your phone? So, trust us, fingerprints are not the worst you can have on your phone.

To the specialists this is no surprise as a phone is ideal breeding ground for bacteria. Our frequent use keeps the phone warm so the germs and bacteria just keeps building up. What types of germ? E. coli, as well as influenza and MRSA, a germ that causes rashes and skin infections.

Don’t believe us? Watch this little video and decide for yourself.

How can you prevent this? Pretty simple steps we’d say…

1. Don’t take your phone with you in the toilet.
2. Put your phone away while you eat.
3. Maintain a good hand hygiene and wash your hands regularly before and using your phone . If there’s no water available use hand disinfecting wipes.
4. Wipe your phone clean once a week.

Scared yet? Don’t be. You should be fine unless you intend to chew on it anytime soon.
