Yes! Hobbies are a great way for you to have some me time without work, kids, cleaning or life getting in the way.

We are all often so busy that it’s hard to take some time just for ourselves and do something fun. It’s the beginning of a new year and it might be time to start thinking about a new hobby you’re interested in. We’ve come up with a couple of suggestions for you!

Blogging
It’s all the rage now to have your own blog where you can express your thoughts and feelings. People blog about all sorts of different topics, it’s a nice way to pass the time but also a nice way to keep special memories or to share your life with people you know. If you have kids or pets you could start a blog sharing the fun activities and adventures you have, this way you’ll have something to look back on and remember! You could also start a blog about something that you are passionate about, or as a way to share your opinions with the world.

Book Club
If you’re looking for a new hobby you can do with your friends then why not form a book club? Every week or month you can get together and chat about a new book. This way you’re allowing yourself time to read a book and relax, but you’re also saving time to meet up with your friends regularly, which can often be difficult when life gets in the way.

Painting
Do you have an artistic side? Why not try your hand at painting? Painting is great fun that allows you to be creative, as well as having time to yourself. Often painting is also a good way to express yourself, and if you’re feeling happy or sad it can come out on the canvas. However don’t forget that painting can be messy, make sure that you keep wipes around for any spills or if you get it on your hands.

Scrapbooking
Another way you can document your special memories if you don’t want to put them online is with a scrapbook! Here you can put images and little keepsakes as well as to write about what happened. Scrapbooks are something that kids can get involved in too, or if you want to do it alone you also can and it’s nice to look back on when they’re all grown up!

Hiking
If you are more outdoorsy or you want to become more outdoorsy then hiking could be the hobby for you! Hiking is really fun to do as you get to be out in the great outdoors! It’s a nice time to reflect whilst looking at the beautiful scenery, and if you go somewhere a bit of the way you could have the trail all to yourself so it’s prefect for that really alone time. We have some tips for you when you’re going hiking!

If you don’t live somewhere with hiking trails then you can always take a quite walk on the beach or in the park, they’ll both give you time to reflect whilst getting your outdoors and exercising.

Learning something new
It’s always a good idea to keep educating yourself even once you’re done with school. If there is something you have always wanted to learn or something that interests you then why not take a class in it. This could be a new language, a subject, or even a new skill like cooking or knitting. You can also further your studies online.

Baking
Do you have a bit of a sweet tooth? Try some baking! If you’re looking for a hobby that you can get the kids involved in, too, then baking is perfect. Plus you get to eat the delicious pastries, cookies and cakes afterwards! Baking however can get quite messy, especially if you do get the kids involved. Keep wipes on hand to quickly wipe down your surfaces or for those little fingers that keep going in the bowl!

Gardening
If you have a garden but you don’t really do a lot to it other than mow the lawn then why don’t you take up gardening? Try planting some nice flowerbeds or even some trees. This is a nice way of making your garden prettier, which in turn can make you want to spend more time in it in the summer. After a long day in the garden make sure to use wipes to clean your shoes before bringing them back in the house.
