For both men and women, hair removal is part of a regular beauty routine and there are several different methods to do this on different parts of the face and body. Although there are permanent methods to remove face and body hair completely, there are also some great alternatives to make your skin silky smooth.
This method is very common and works by plucking individual hairs by the root with a pair of tweezers. You never know where you are going to sprout hair on your body and this method is ideal for areas of minimal / sparse hair.
Tweezing is best for small areas of the face like eyebrows or upper lip / chin area, and they can usually last for 3-5 weeks depending on how quick your hair grows.
A good tip is to wipe clean your tweezers with a disinfecting wipe before and after each use to lower your chance of infection or bacteria transfer to your face.
A regular disposable razor or electric shaver can do shaving, where it cuts the hair very close to the skin. If you use disposable razors or blades, it is important to wet your skin and use a shaving cream / foam and shave in the direction the hair grows. This will prevent any shaving rashes and give you a smoother finish afterwards.
Shaving usually lasts for 1-3 days before you start seeing stubble or hair growth but it is one of the quickest and most convenient ways for quick hair removal, and works anywhere on the face and body.
If you’re a regular user of disposable razors, it’s always a good idea to replace the razor often as you can cut yourself with a dull razor blade. Also for men, to get a fresher aftershave feeling, use after shaving wipes that will sooth the fresh area and reduce any redness.
Waxing is a hair removal method that can be done professionally in a salon or in the comfort of your own home. The sticky wax is spread on the area of skin with hair, and is then covered with a nonwoven cloth strip. When the wax has dried and adhered to the hairs, the strips are quickly pulled off, taking the hair with them.
This hair removal method is a good alternative if you can tolerate the pain and you prefer not to have to worry about hair in areas for a while. Hair removal through waxing can last up to 6 weeks, but hair must be at least 1/4 inch long for the wax to be able to grab it.
If you’re waxing in the comfort of your own home, it is a good idea to have some after wax wipes which effectively removes any excess wax residue whilst moisturizing the skin at the same time.
These three methods are some of the main methods of hair removal, and there are other treatments you can also do but these are probably the easiest. With Summer right round the corner, looking good and feeling good is a feeling you want and nothing feels as good as a freshly shaven body during the warmer days.
