All over the world people celebrate April Fools’ Day by trying to trick their friends and family. But it’s not just us who take part in it; there have been some memorable pranks over the years. Taco Bell once tricked people into believing they had purchased the Liberty Bell and they would be renaming it to ‘Taco Liberty Bell’. One year the BBC aired footage of ‘flying penguins’. In Finland regional newspapers publish made-up news and occasionally you can also see people queuing to events on the first of April.
In the spirit of April Fools’ Day, we have come up with some fun (and rather messy) pranks to try on your friends, colleagues, partner or even your kids. They’re not as good as renaming the Liberty Bell, flying penguins or made-up events, but we are sure these harmless pranks will still put a smile (we hope) on their face!
Our first prank is quite easy; all you will need is food dye and hand liquid soap. Add the food dye to the soap and shake it up to mix! Next time someone goes to wash their hands they’ll end up with dyed hands. If you don’t want to use food coloring, you can replace the soap completely with some syrup so they get sticky hands! Nasty!
Top Tip: try to choose a color that will blend in with the hand soap.
Cover the taps with some sticky tape, leaving a small gap towards the front of the tap so that when someone turns on the tap they get sprayed. Cruel – but funny!
Top Tip: Even better if you do this and the previous prank together.
WARNING: This prank is going to be very messy. If you add baking soda to ketchup, when someone goes to shake up and use the bottle, IT WILL EXPLODE! We repeat: IT WILL EXPLODE. A lot of fun but you’ll probably end up being the one who has to clean it off the ceiling…
Top Tip: Try it at an outdoor space or someone else’s kitchen. And remember to bin the ketchup at midnight if nobody shook the bottle.
We’ve all heard of the whipped cream in the slippers, why not take it one step further and add it to all your victim’s shoes? Every time they go to try a different pair they’ll get a sloppy surprise. Try to leave them with one pair of shoes they can actually wear though.
Top Tip: It is probably best to stay away from their favorite shoes. It might be April Fools’ Day but we’re not that cruel!
Have you got any fun pranks you want to try this year or have you ever been badly pranked? Let us know! Plus if you try out any of our pranks, make sure to take a picture or a video and share them with us on Facebook or Twitter.
Happy April Fools’ Day and watch out!
