It’s that time of year again, the mad dash to the shops and families coming to stop by here, there and everywhere.

Have you just had some family member mention a quick stop by, and your not nearly done with the cleaning? Well we have some tips for you, so that you are not in such a hurry to clean no messing around with mops and dusting, just bust out the wipes!

Bathroom:

There are wipes for everything in the bathroom, antibacterial for cabinets and handles, surface cleansing wipes for sinks and bathing facilities, floor wipes, and glass wipes for mirrors. One quick swipe over the sink, bath, cabinets and floor and you will be good to go. Also if you have a smeary mirror, don’t miss that out. Stick some bleach down the toilets, (don’t forget to flush!) and spray some air freshener and no one will know that it only took you five minutes, it’ll look like you’ve been scrubbing all day. But remember, only some bathroom cleaning wipes are flushable so read the small printed text to dispose the evidence of last minute cleaning properly.

Living room:

This room will probably need more tidying than cleaning. But no less, if there’re places that have been left to catch dust the easiest way to get ALL the dust will be to get some household wipes, they pick up dust, without spreading it back into the air and making it fall in more places. If you have leather sofas, a wipe here wouldn’t go a miss since you can get certain wipes to treat and polish leather furniture. Finally to add a finishing touch, fluff the pillows up, and straighten the rug. Leave some cookies and sweeties in a bowl on the table, guests can help themselves!

Kitchen:

There no easy way of finding the effort to grab that grease buster and clean that stove that’s not looking its shiniest. Grab some cleaning wipes and start wiping away to your hearts desire. And let’s face it with the mud and the mess that the family (and pets!) drags in with them, this is a room not to be missed. Also if you think your kitchen could use a little touch, light a candle, it will make it look more homely.

Bedroom:

It’s unlikely that family will go into your bedroom, but if you have guest staying, especially an unannounced one, or worse: one you’ve forgotten about, you may want to sort out the guest bedroom. If it’s not frequently used you should probably start with opening the window and dusting, making sure to have removed all the layers of dust. Stick a throw on the bed so it looks more done up, and that you’ve planned on their stay. That should all only take you five minutes and they’ll be none the wiser that you didn’t plan for them!

That’s it! These are our quick house cleaning tips for having family round these holiday seasons, an extra little tip is it’s always nice to maybe stick on a scented candle here and there during the festive season, or even just get a festive air freshener makes your home smell more homely and ready for people coming round!

Happy holidays!

Thank you for these great holiday cleaning tips. I find organisation is key. Plan in advance. My Nan taught me a great tip. White vinegar mixed with water, works wonders, is very versatile and gives a great shine.

For easy oven cleaning I like mixing baking soda with a little white vinegar and water and wiping in oven and leaving it set overnight and wiping the grime in your oven away with wipes. That avoids using harsh smelling chemicals.

Very good on the hints to help but what we also do is walk through the rooms and make a list and assign certain people to do certain things which seems to get things done more efficiently.
