Very few people have to work on Independence Day.

It is a day of family celebrations with picnics and barbecues, showing a great deal of emphasis on the American tradition of political freedom. Traditional activities include watermelon or hotdog eating competitions and sporting events, such as baseball games, three-legged races, swimming activities and tug-of-war games.

Fireworks are a must on Independence Day – whether you experience this in your backyard or at America’s National Independence Day Parade. Just don’t forget to protect your children/dogs in case they get afraid and make sure they don’t get too close to any active firework display.

If you want to fulfil your day the American way – why not visit the museum dedicated to America’s history that exhibits some of America’s most notable artefacts. Live, breath and enjoy all that American history.

Independence Day is also a perfect time to enjoy and eat as much food as possible – without being sick of course! With an active and fun holiday like this, you don’t want to fuss around with cooking that requires too much work. The beauty of this holiday allows you to eat most of the traditional foods with your hands – grilling barbecues! Just remember to use a wet wipe to clean yourself up after getting your hands all grubby with yumminess.

And if you are having a barbeque or party, make sure you have these songs on your playlist!
