‘I will take all my makeup off before bed, every night!’
Our skin needs to breathe, and going to bed with a full face of makeup is bad for your skin. It can cause spots and clog pores. Every night remove your makeup with either makeup removal wipes or a face cleanser.
‘I won’t wear makeup everyday’
Your skin needs a break from makeup occasionally. Try to go at least 1 day every month without makeup to keep your skin healthy!
‘I will drink more water’
Drinking water is not only good for your body, but it is also good for your skin, hair and nails. Your skin often shows dehydration more than your body will, as it gets dry and flaky. Drinking water and using moisturizers can help to combat dehydrated skin.
‘I will wash my makeup brushes once a week’
Make it your Sunday night tradition and give your brushes a good clean. Makeup brushes collect bacteria, and if you use dirty brushes you are not only spreading bacteria back onto your face, but you are also putting it into your products. The bacteria in your brushes can cause spots and irritation to your skin, and can cause your makeup to go out of date early.
‘I will not hoard makeup’
Many of us do this, we collect makeup that we love, and we hold onto it for years! But makeup can go out of date. You should be throwing away mascara after 3 months, foundation after 9 months, lipstick can last 1-2 years and powder products such as blusher, bronzer, and eyeshadow should be thrown out after 2 years.
