But lucky for you, we have some pick me up tips for you to avoid feeling blue on this Blue Monday, and most importantly we want you to feel great in the New Year.
1. Eat Healthier…but don’t go on a drastic diet.
So in the New Year most people plan to lose weight, but it’s not good to take up a fad diet. Instead eat healthier, substitute chocolate for some fruit, or McDonalds for a home cooked meal. It’s never good to take it too far and ban things you enjoy all together, as you are more likely not to continue with it.
2. Pamper yourself…Facial masks, hair masks and all other masks you can get your hands on.
Spend an hour or so alone and put on a hair mask, a facial mask and just sit back and relax. It’s nice to have some alone time, sit with a book, or a film and a snack. Using a sheet mask will save on the mess!
3. Sleep in… You know you want to.
Have a few early nights, or lie-ins and you will feel a lot fresher and more awake. You'll also be catching up on the sleep you lost while out and about over the holidays.
4. Get yourself out… Walks, runs, or even shopping.
After being at home and sitting around all Christmas, people want to go out, whether it’s for a walk in the brisk winter air or for a run to lose some of that Christmas weight. But also, it’s just nice to get some fresh air. Or you could go shopping and hit those January sales; nothing helps you lose weight like rushing around people to get your sizes.
5. Substitute Caffeine… that’s right no coffee.
Drink green teas, or juices to keep you awake rather than caffeine as its better for you and you will be less likely to crash after a healthy juice than you are after a coffee.
6. Exercise…and that’s not just walking from the couch to the kitchen.
Exercise helps wake you up and makes you more energetic for the day ahead of you; even if it’s just a 20-minute workout at home. If you are going to the gym, take some wipes with you if you don’t plan on showering at the gym, it’s always best to smell fresh on your way home.
7. Vitamins…Not just the sweet chewy kind.
Take a multi-vitamin, its good for you and its something most people should be doing all of the time and not just in January. But if you have been neglecting your vitamin intake then it’s best to start taking them again.
8. Don’t rush… You don’t have to start everything at once.
Take your time and relax, pamper yourself with facial, hand or feet masks - you don't have to do all your resolutions in January. If you pace yourself then you are more likely to continue your routine.
These are our tips to help you out this Blue Monday, just remember not to put too much pressure on yourself; it’s good to slow down once in a while and take some time to relax.
